Canine sports medicine needs to be very specific to the actions that must to be accomplished within the sport itself. When recovering from injury, surgery or disease carful assessment of a canine athletes abilities need to be evaluated and a therapeutic plan should be carried out. Doctors, therapists and trainers all need to be on the same page and understand how the patient is progressing and from what the patient is progressing from, as well as, where the patient needs to return, to optimize the recovery and return to sport. Higher functioning canines such as Gris Gris need special attention to detail and a focus on specific exercises so that they do not hurt themselves when they start competing again. Louisiana Veterinary Referral Center (LAVRC) and the Animal rehabilitation Center(ARC) takes great pride in individualized patient plans and the care that we give to all our patients as well as the education and guidance that we provide for owners.
