El Boyero de Berna, también conocido como Bouvier Bernois, es un perro que necesita mantenerse activo. Algunas actividades que le pueden estimular son: las salidas a la montaña, el carting (enganche y tiro de carritos), las competiciones de obediencia, ejercer tareas de búsqueda y rescate o participar como perro de terapia (visitando hospitales y asilos). Origen El Boyero de Berna es una raza muy antigua procedente de Suiza, que con el paso de los siglos y los diversos cruces realizados, ha llegado a ser el perro que hoy conocemos. En su país natal, el Bouvier Bernois era utilizado por los campesinos como perro guardián y ayudaba a los ganaderos bovinos a mantener a salvo los rebaños. A finales del siglo XIX, debido a la buena reputación de los quesos suizos, los campesinos le sacaron el máximo rendimiento al Bernés y lo destinaron a tirar de carros lecheros. Comportamiento El Boyero de Berna es equilibrado, leal, amable, decidido y tiene un instinto de guarda muy marcado. Tiene muy buen carácter, es independiente y reservado con los extraños, aunque afectuoso con sus dueños. Aspecto El Bouvier Bernois es un perro grande, robusto y bien proporcionado. Sus extremidades son estrechas y fuertes. Tiene unas orejas medianas, triangulares y que le cuelgan a los lados de la cabeza. Su cola es peluda y le cae hasta el torso. Conformation shows, also referred to as breed shows, are a kind of dog show in which a judge familiar with a specific dog breed evaluates individual purebred dogs for how well the dogs conform to the established breed type for their breed, as described in a breed's individual breed standard. A conformation dog show is not a comparison of one dog to another but a comparison of each dog to a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's breed standard. Dog show judges attempt to identify dogs who epitomize the published standards for each breed. This can be challenging, because some judgements must necessarily be subjective. As an example, what exactly entails a "full coat" or a "cheerful attitude", descriptions found in breed standards, can only be learned through experience with the breed that has that particular requirement.
